Consistency in Advertising Translates into Bigger Payoffs

In a recessive economy, your business image will play a large role in the amount of business you receive.  For instance, if the consumer feels that your business may be on the verge of shuttering, they will be less likely to buy from you – even if you slash your prices.  This is because the consumer wants to know that you will still be around to support them if the product breaks, needs repairs, or needs accessories.  The opposite is also true – businesses that appear to be thriving tend to attract even more business because they inspire confidence in the consumer.

Appearing Successful

One of the main ways that a business can appear successful is through how often they advertise.  The more that a business is seen in the marketplace, the more successful a business image the company will have.  If clients continuously see you on TV, in the newspaper, in brochures, and on bumper stickers, they will start to see you as a thriving and credible business.

Think about the ads that you have seen on TV recently.  What company do you think of first when you think of cell phones?  How about cars?  Running shoes?  Chances are the company that you think of first (which will also be the one you are most likely to buy from) is the one that you have seen and/or heard of the most through advertising.  They may or may not have the best product, but they are the best at advertising what they do.

What the Masses Know

When you think of the population of the market, there is quite a range of people of all types of different backgrounds, economic status, intelligence, ages, and genders. Yet, on average, the market as a whole tends to make good buying decisions.

Advertising costs money, and therefore people know that if a company can afford to advertise, then it must be doing well.  For the company to do well, other people must be shopping there, which means that it is a good idea for you to shop there as well.  Now it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Advertising tells the market that you exist, and the more advertising you do, the bigger the presence you have in the market.  As long as you can prove the claims in your advertising, advertising frequently will cause your business to be successful.

Is Our Economic Future Looking Brighter?

The economy may currently be in the slumps, but new research is suggesting that the forecast will be much sunnier.  The remainder of 2009 and early 2010 should mark a recovery, creating more hope for businesses.

Rising Consumer Confidence

The stock market is set to improve, which generally improves the confidence of the consumers.  They buy more, and the inventory that many businesses have starts to decrease.  This requires an increase in jobs as businesses have to produce more inventories, allowing for more income – and then the positive cycle continues.  Now is the time for businesses to start advertising to spur on even more consumer confidence.

Ease in Getting Loans

The banking and financial sector is starting to work again, meaning that it is becoming easier for businesses to get loans.  If you need a loan to build inventory, buy real estate, or get that new marketing campaign off the ground, now is the time to do so.  Remember, in the world of business, you have to spend money to make money – after all, consumers have more confidence in businesses that are appearing to do well.

Spending Predicted to Rise

The stimulus package from the government has helped consumers to have confidence to continue spending, even when salaries are on the decline and unemployment on the rise. At the same time, spending after a deep recession has historically been strong; this can help boost the economy even further.  While overall household wealth is down, the recent liquidation in investments means that there will be a boost in inventory.

What This Means for Businesses

For most businesses, the outlook is favorable.  The worst is behind us, and businesses can start focusing on the future and their recovery.  Advertising is strongly suggested, be it brochures, flyers, ads, business cards, or another method of choice.  Consumers have more confidence in a business that appears successful and stable, particularly as the market just starts to turn around.  No one wants to invest in a business that may not be here tomorrow.  Advertising and wise investments can help portray the positive outlook and overall well-being that the consumers desire.
